Early Life and Inspirations

Born and brought up in Batala, Punjab—a city popular for having produced legends like Shiv Kumar Batalvi, Axonn grew up in a culture steeped in poetry, folk traditions, and music. In his hometown, nights were quiet, and most people slept early, so his first exposure to music came during weddings and festivals like Lohri and Diwali. From a young age, he was captivated by the sounds of Punjabi MC, Bally Sagoo, Jazzy B, and Shinda, the pioneers of the UK Punjabi vibe. By the time he moved to Delhi for school, Axonn’s world expanded further. Living in a PG, he was introduced to hip-hop artists like 50 Cent and Akon, often staying up late with friends, discovering lyrics on Google, and tuning into radio shows. This mix of Punjabi folk, UK fusion, and global hip-hop shaped his early identity and planted the seeds for his lifelong journey into music.

Breakthroughs and Big Stages

The turning point came in Bangalore, where friends like Raghu, Martin, and Shaheen pushed Axonn deeper into the scene. Nights of playing clubs soon grew into bigger ventures—like bringing Sunburn to his college in 2015, where he opened before Rohan Kapoor and Sartek in front of thousands. That show introduced him to Arjun Shah, who managed some of India’s top DJs, and opened doors to major collaborations. Around the same time, Siddharth Odi became both mentor and brother, urging him to move to Bombay and chase music seriously. Between learning production after office hours, starting Bass Kulture to support artists, and sharing moments with icons like Nucleya, Axonn’s path widened. Each stage, be it festivals, clubs, or weddings became less about just playing music and more about shaping experiences. These milestones transformed him from a campus DJ into a name to remember in the Indian electronic music circuit.

Career Begins in Music

It all began unplanned, with sheer curiosity, love for music, and a whole lot of coincidence. In Manipal, where Axonn had gone to study mechanical engineering, life was supposed to be about books, blueprints, and examinations. Yet in the quiet of his hostel room, he would sit with his laptop, letting music breathe into him, crossfading songs on Traktor as if testing the pulse of a hidden world. One evening, a club found itself without its DJ, and a friend, with reckless faith, declared, “Rajat will play.” He arrived with nothing but a laptop and trembling hands, yet when the first song fell into rhythm, the crowd answered with joy. That night was not payment in money, but in laughter, food, beer, and above all, a strange certainty: music had chosen him. Soon, parties called him back, then clubs. And by the time his studies neared their end, Axonn had already stepped quietly into another destiny.

Bengaluru, Mumbai & What’s Next

With successful stints in Bengaluru’s thriving nightlife and Mumbai’s ever-demanding music scene, Axonn has proven his versatility and resilience. Nights spent in deep house and tech house clubs taught him rhythm, patience, and the magic of connecting with people through sound. Mumbai was different: fast, bright, and demanding, where Bollywood beats and high-energy crowds pushed him to refine every mix, every drop. Then came weddings, long, intimate marathons of music where he could let himself wander freely across genres, from house to afro, techno to Bollywood, Bollytech, and beyond, sharing moments that became memories etched in people’s lives. Instagram, campus gigs, and festival stages built him a fanbase, but it was discipline, humility, and joy that made him unforgettable. Hours of sleepless travel, relentless rehearsals, and countless shows only deepened his love for the craft. Today, Axonn is not just a DJ, he is a storyteller, a curator of experiences, and a relentless seeker of musical adventures. His vision is clear: to craft original tracks, explore international collaborations, and bring his music to audiences far beyond India. And yet, in every beat, every set, the joy of those early nights in Bengaluru, the childlike joy from Manipal, the curiosity of that young boy in Delhi, and the sould of Batala, still pulse, reminding him, and all who listen, why he started this journey.
